For more than two decades, Ricardo’s Place in San Juan Capistrano has been a gathering spot where homestyle Mexican cooking and community spirit come together. Owned and operated by Ricardo and Rosa Beas, family members and committed staff, the restaurant reflects their shared commitment to family, hospitality, and service beyond the dining room.
The Beas family’s restaurant journey began long before Ricardo’s Place opened its doors in San Juan Capistrano in 2004, following the success of their earlier ventures in Southern California. When they established the restaurant, they brought with them cherished recipes and a deep belief in giving back to the community that supports them. Over the years, Ricardo’s Place has become known for its welcoming atmosphere as much as for its authentic cuisine. Their philosophy is simple: serve good food, treat people like family, and stay actively involved in the community they call home. This is undoubtedly why Ricardo’s Place was named of the Top 3 Mexican Restaurants in the region by The Best of Orange County.
Celebrating Tradition and Supporting Community
Ricardo and Rosa’s involvement in San Juan Capistrano extends far beyond their business. Their dedication to service has earned recognition from local civic organizations, underscoring the meaningful impact they’ve made through volunteerism and outreach. For the Beas family, community engagement isn’t an occasional effort – it’s a way of life rooted in gratitude and cultural pride.
One of the most visible expressions of that pride is their participation in the annual Swallows Day Parade, a beloved San Juan Capistrano tradition that celebrates the city’s heritage each spring. The parade draws families, local businesses, civic groups, and visitors from across the region. Ricardo’s Place has proudly taken part in this signature event, adding to the festive atmosphere while connecting directly with neighbors along the parade route. Their involvement highlights both their love for the community and their commitment to preserving local traditions.

The Beases are also strong supporters of cultural arts programs, particularly folkloric dance groups that honor Mexican heritage. They have sponsored Folkloric “Viva Cristo Rey,” helping support performances and youth participation in traditional dance. Through their sponsorship, they contribute to opportunities for young performers to learn discipline, teamwork, and cultural appreciation while sharing vibrant traditions with audiences throughout Orange County.
Through restaurant service, parade participation, and sponsorship of folkloric arts programs, Ricardo and Rosa Beas demonstrate a philosophy centered on connection, culture, and contribution. Ricardo’s Place stands as more than a neighborhood restaurant – it is a reflection of family values, civic pride, and an enduring commitment to the community of San Juan Capistrano.
At its heart, the story of Ricardo’s Place is one of hospitality and heritage, where every meal served and every event supported reinforces the Beas family’s belief that small businesses can make a lasting difference – one plate, one parade, and one partnership at a time.
