There’s something exciting about remodeling a home. It’s the promise of a fresh kitchen, a more beautiful bathroom or an outdoor space that finally feels like an extension of the home. But anyone who has lived through a remodel knows that getting from the “before” to the “after” can be the challenging part.
For more than three decades, Designing Women of Orange County has been changing that experience. Founded in 1991, the 100% female-owned and operated design-build firm specializes in custom home remodeling and has expanded its expertise to include exterior landscape and hardscape design.
Owner Sabrina Phillips has always had a natural eye for design. “I’ve been drawing and planning out homes and buildings since I was a kid—drawing was a favorite pastime,” she says. “I became an artist in my teens and also began designing doctors’ offices.”
Phillips went on to earn degrees in Business, Marketing and Programming, combining her understanding of how businesses and systems work with her artistic background. At just 25, she brought those skills together to form her own design firm.
Today, that unique combination of creativity and process remains at the heart of Designing Women.

“We have a proprietary, systemized way of running our projects that allows us to provide high-quality workmanship yet hand over the finished project in record time,” Phillips explains. “Typically, our kitchens will take two to four weeks and baths three to six weeks from demo to done!”
Just as important, clients aren’t left to navigate the remodeling process alone. As a licensed design-build firm, Designing Women guides homeowners from the initial design conversation and material selections through construction and the final walk-through.

For Phillips, however, remodeling is about much more than finishes and floor plans. It’s about the relationship built along the way.
“Remodeling is about so much more than creating a beautiful home—it’s about trust, collaboration and creating long-lasting relationships,” she says.
That philosophy is reflected in the company’s upbeat approach and its genuine respect for the responsibility of being invited into someone’s home. Thoughtful planning, clear communication and quality craftsmanship are all part of the process.
“We love what we do, so we bring a positive, fun attitude to each of our clients’ projects,” Phillips says.
