Señor San Juan, Tom Scott, has been involved with the Swallows Parade for 25 years and has been a member of the Fiesta Association for about 20 years. Ms. Fiesta, Beverly Blake, was brought into the Fiesta Association Events and Parade over 11 years ago through her volunteer work at Camino Real Playhouse. Both San Juan residents, they are actively involved in community affairs including San Juan Chamber of Commerce, San Juan Restaurant and Tourism Council, Friday morning Coffee Chat, the City’s former Economic Preservation Committee, the San Juan Historical Society, San Juan’s 50th birthday celebration and most of all are dedicated volunteers who manage Camino Real Playhouse.

Tom recollects their very first Camino Real Playhouse Swallows Parade entry. In March of 1990 as a walking entry he pulled three pretty little girls in a stage prop basket from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. One of those little girls is now teaching theatre, another has a degree in journalism and the third has recently made him a great-grandpa.
In past years, as the scenic artist at the Playhouse, Beverly has enjoyed creating and implementing the themes for the floats for their parade entries. She is also pleased to add this year’s Fiesta logo design to her list of graphic design work for local organizations including the Historical Society, Second Saturday Art Fair, the Economic Preservation Committee and the San Juan Chamber of Commerce.

When asked about their experience in these roles, they said “We’re having so much fun representing the Fiesta Association and the city of San Juan Capistrano at the various events this season. It’s an honor to be a part of such a tradition.”

In researching the history of Señor San Juan and Ms. Fiesta they found many gaps in identifying former Señor San Juan and Ms. Fiesta dignitaries. Tom and Beverly have decided to make it their quest to fill in those gaps. Please contact them with your recollections of Senor San Juan and Ms. Fiesta as well as Junior Senor San Juan and Junior Ms. Fiesta from the past. They will be compiling a list to share with all future dignitaries.
