Gorilla Grass

Owning your own home is a huge part of the American dream – but it’s not just owning a home … it’s the pride of ownership that extends to the care you put into the way the property looks – inside and out.

The front lawn is one of the first things about your home that people see, and a tidy, lush-looking lawn not only adds to your home’s curb appeal, but also adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of your neighborhood. But “lush” might be quite a stretch to achieve when conserving water. That is, unless you call Gorilla Grass – providers of the highest quality synthetic lawn grass for both residential and commercial customers.

DSC00223For our part, my husband and I were tired of looking at a barren patch of dirt in our backyard and I hesitate to call what was struggling to grow there “grass.” We decided to install a synthetic lawn and called on Gorilla Grass owner Denis Weber and his professional team to try to make the area look better and have it be a more useable space for the kids could play.

Serving Orange County since 1998, Denis has continually grown the company year after year – a testament to the quality of his product and service. Gorilla Grass provides two types of grass: Synthetic Lawngrass and Professional Putting Greens. Synthetic grass can help you cut down significantly on your water usage and judging by the results we achieved, you don’t have to sacrifice beauty for cost-savings.

“Synthetic or artificial lawn grass is so sophisticated today, that is very closely imitates real live grass,” says Denis. “In general, by switching to artificial lawn, the savings in water consumption amount to about 48 gallons per square foot, per year!”

DSC00231When we spoke with Denis, it was immediately evident that he is extremely proud of his product, but we were equally impressed by personal testimonials of his many happy customers like Mike and Shannon Wells who raved “Denis has done an incredible job with an incredible product. The kids play constantly on the grass, and we will be adding a new family member (a puppy) without any worries. We cannot say enough about how happy we are with the product as well as with Denis and his team.”

Customer Dr. Dante Toriello agrees with the Wells’ assessment and adds that the work was so good, his lawn had become “uniform, maintenance free and beautiful.” His American dream had been fulfilled, and in Dante’s words, thanks to Gorilla Grass, his home had now become “the showplace in the neighborhood.”

DSC00215According to Denis, the ways in which Gorilla Grass simulates real grass are numerous: “its weight (double the average at 143oz per square yard), its high density, its extra softness and plushness, its resiliency, its height (2”, whereas most lawns are 1 1/2” to 1 3/4”)”, and its special diamond-shaped fibers - which help make Gorilla Grass more resilient and more realistic. Gorilla Grass is just like real grass, only better.

Since its first Wills and Trusts Week in the fall of 2011, the Orange Catholic Foundation has had as one of its primary goals to encourage everyone to have an estate plan designed to provide for the needs of their families.

Each year in the spring and fall, the Orange Catholic Foundation works in collaboration with parishes and schools throughout the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange to provide information sessions led by local Catholic estate planning attorneys and financial advisors to help you protect and provide for your loved ones, update or create your estate plan, and learn more about wills, trusts, estate taxes, probate expenses, guardianship of minor children, selection of personal representatives, and more.

For convenience, the Foundation offers a series of morning and evening seminars that are scheduled at local parishes across the diocese.

While learning how to effectively plan a legacy, attendees at these sessions receive answers to such questions as:

  • Who will make my healthcare decisions if I am no longer able to act on my own behalf?
  • Who will have the power to manage our finances if we are no longer able to manage our property or financial affairs?
  • What is the difference between a will and a trust?
  • What happens if I pass away without an updated estate plan?
  • What are the advantages of pre-planning for my funeral expenses?
  • How can we leave a legacy of faith?
  • Who should we appoint as our trustees and successor trustees?
  • Who will be the guardian of my dependent children or child with special needs if something happens to me?

The Orange Catholic Foundation warmly welcomes all who are interested in attending one of the upcoming sessions during the week of May 16 through 21. Times and locations for the spring Wills and Trusts Week are listed in their advertisement in this issue.

Everyone who attends and completes a basic introductory form will receive a complimentary consultation with both an estate planning attorney and a financial planner within the next six months.

About Stratford School
The curiosity to reach.
The courage to grasp.TM
The spirit of Stratford is embodied in our philosophy of “summa spes, summa res,” meaning, “highest hopes, highest things.” We believe all children can achieve when given the opportunity to succeed.

About Preschool

Beginning in preschool, Stratford’s curriculum is designed to develop the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical building blocks to last a lifetime. Hands-on, multi-sensory activities, including imaginative STEAM play, encourage preschoolers to play and share with others, while developing their self-confidence. Stratford teachers enrich the academic lessons with the “fun factor,” so each child discovers the joy and excitement of learning.

About Elementary

Our accelerated core curriculum exceeds California’s Academic State Standards and motivates students to become critical thinkers, innovative problem-solvers, and proficient writers. We provide a rich balance of art, music, history, science, physical education, and foreign language programs — all of which provide students with a well-rounded education that is further enhanced by our teachers’ creative and individualized approach to learning.

About Middle School

Middle School continues the Stratford tradition of excellence. We prepare and mentor students for admission to top private high schools, or advanced placement in public high schools. Our curriculum delivers a broad base of knowledge that’s rich in vocabulary, analytical thinking, and consistent instruction. Stratford balances the curriculum with art, music, science, physical education, and foreign language.

At Stratford, academic success is just the beginning.

Stratford students are accepted to exceptional public, private, and independent high schools. I’m removing the reference to Southern California and throughout the Bay Area as with Southern California it will be many years before any of our students will even be close to entering high school...so felt I should keep it generic in nature.

Stratford Image 2Our Admissions Process

Stratford welcomes students throughout the school year, as long as there is space available in the desired program, and the child is grade level ready. There are no yearly registration fees, no required parent volunteer hours, and no required fundraising or donations. A sibling discount is available.

Come for a tour

Experience the true magic of Stratford School during a campus visit. We invite you and your child to take a tour and learn how our dedicated teachers provide Stratford students with a solid foundation that ensures the best preparation for a lifetime of learning, and connects them with their unique futures.
