All around us we are inundated by infomercials pitching grand ideas like, “Loose ten pounds in a week!” Or maybe it’s six-pack abs instantly with a fancy, new piece of exercise equipment. A new waist overnight with liposuction. The list of outrageous claims goes on and on.
Honestly, this isn’t the way to approach your well-being. To be physically healthy inside and out is an endeavor, a lifelong practice. Overall health should never be gimmicky.

Ten to 20 Million cells die and are replaced by new cells every second in your body. This is how the body repairs and heals itself. Regrown tissue repairs bones and can even replace organs. Therefore, if anyone or any company claims a major change in the body quicker than this is defying human nature. It should make you skeptical.

To see and feel a physical change in the body obviously takes time. It can’t be achieved overnight. And well-being doesn’t happen through a quick fix, but with positive, lifelong habits, including proper diet and movement.

At Align we could not agree more with this. Pilates and yoga are both methods of a movement regimen geared to help change the body for the better. Both modalities require practice to properly master their technique and really reap their rewards.

Daily life puts a lot of demands on our body’s musculature system. Over time the body actually develops to accommodate those stressors, resulting in bad posture, hindered range of motion, joint issues, weight gain, chronic diseases and more.

Pilates and yoga were designed to combat the stressors, re-educate the muscles and undo years of damage to the body. But it can’t happen with only one or two sessions here and there. The key is finding consistency and making it a daily priority.
